Owensboro Community College, also called Owensboro Community and Technical College or OCTC, is a 2 year open admission school located in the county of Owensboro in the state of Kentucky. It is also one of the 16 schools that is part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System or the KCTCS. The system was formed in 1999 from the group of colleges under the University of Kentucky system. OCTC serves the counties of Daviess, Hancock, Ohio, McLean and Spencer. The school has a main campus located in New Hartford in Owensboro. The school also has three main campuses, the Main Campus, the Downtown Campus, and the Southeastern Campus. There is also the satellite location of Hancock County Center in Lewisport.
OCTC awards two guaranteed transfer Associate Degrees, thirteen different Associate in Applied Science Degrees, and twenty two diplomas and certificate programs from which students can choose. Within the Transfer Framework Agreement of the school, all 60 class hours taken by the students are guaranteed to transfer to any Kentucky public institution, including the University of Kentucky. OCTC awards Associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in a variety of courses and disciplines. OCTC also features a transfer center to provide students with assistance in transferring courses to OCTC or in accumulating credits to transfer to a particular college or university. This means that the program allows students to continue their 2 year degrees and finish their 4 year baccalaureate degrees with 4 year colleges and universities.
Among the courses offered by the school includes Agricultural Technology, Biotechnology, Broadcast Television, Business Administration, Computer Aided Drafting and Design, Computer Information Technology, Construction Technology, Criminal Justice, Discover College, Education, Human Services, Medical Information Technology, Nursing, Paramedic Technology, Radiography, Surgical Technology, Veterinary Technology, Welding Technology. The school also has an athletic program available for the student body. The school colors are blue and gold.
